Orange Crocs

Fifty-year “old” lady
Wearing orange crocs
Because they make her smile!

Who will I be
When I emerge from this cocoon?
A Qigong Teacher …
A Student Aid …
Or someone we’ve never met before

The world goes on
Transitions continue to take place
All around me
While my life, my life is on hold

I begin to wonder
Will I recognize this place?
Will I fit back in
After being “gone” so long

Or will I wake up in a different world
Where the “old” one just doesn’t make sense
Anymore
And no one recognizes me

I cannot fathom
I have no idea
Where I will be
When I emerge

Awaiting the promised beauty of what will be

The Sound

The sound of Eric
Independently
Chopping the top off of strawberries
And then
Offering me one

The sound of Jessica
Doing a load of laundry
Painstakingly washing a stain
Out of one of her favorite shirts

As I listen
In the distance
To my ‘children’ becoming adults
Answering their questions
As best I can
From my easy chair

Recovery . . .

Let go of predictability
Dwell instead in possibility
Accept change
Or stay the same
The choice is up to you

World Peace

World Peace

I dream of world peace
A world without wars
A world without judgment
Without hatred and arms

I dream of world peace
A world without prejudice
A world without stereotyping
Without hunger and harm

I dream of world peace
A world full of love
Acceptance
Embracing all
Unconditional Love

So be it
And so it is ….
Beginning with me
…. And you?

"The world is what you dream it." (unsure of who said that first) "Be the change you wish to see in the world." ~ Ghandi "I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and in thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world." ~ Tao Te Ching (Stephen Mitchell's translation -- originally Lao-tzu). "Love one another as I have loved you." ~ Bible (John 13:34-35)

Oh heavy trees, covered with snow.
Are you the reason we had no power for 21 hours?
Of course not.
In your world there is no "need" for electricity.
Your branches simply snapped under the weight of heavy snow
Not aiming for our wires and our transformers
They just happened to be in your way

Aiming to exist in harmony

A family of robins
Are having a feast
On what, I do not know
Perhaps the berries from the holly tree
That have fallen in the snow
